Sports medicine deals with various conditions and illnesses that result from physical activity. Both seasoned athletes and new exercisers can experience a range of issues whether from single accidents or prolonged wear-and-tear. Our treatment is specified by type of sport and location of injury to provide a targeted and effective treatment strategy.
Trigger Point Injection
Local anesthetics is delivered via a small needle into the trigger point to help in relaxation. These trigger points are commonly referred to at knots.
Large Joint / Bursa Injection
Anesthetics and anti-inflammatory steroids are delivered via a thin needle to bursa sacs (next to joints in the body) to reduce inflammation and relieve pain.
Active Release Techniques (ART)
Active Release Techniques, or ART, is a rehabilitation technique used by certified professionals to treat soft tissue disorders in order to return to peak performance quickly. It treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves, and can be used to treat older injuries that continue to cause issues, too.
Dr. Larry Politis is certified in ART for 2017.
The Functional and Kinetic Treatment with Rehab (FAKTR) technique is used by certified providers to help patients and athletes feel and move better within a shortened recovery period. Combining manual and instrument-assisted soft tissue techniques, the FAKTR concept strives toward improved health quicker and more effectively than standard therapy.
Treatable conditions include sprains, strains, connective tissue injuries, post-surgical scars, edema and bruising.
Dr. Chris Cueto is a Certified FAKTR Provider.
